Laboratory of Chemical and Process Risk


LSPC (label Équipe d'Accueil 4704) is a process and ceengineering
supported by INSA Rouen Normandie and Université de Rouen Normandie,
is directed by Pr. Bechara Taouk.

The research themes of the laboratory are based on safety and intensification of chemical processes.

the laboratory is attached to three engineering courses, three IUT courses
and two masters attached to the école doctorale PSIME.

  1. Process safety Characterization of media by reaction calorimetry, prevention of thermal runaway, safety and stability of chemical reactors. 
  2. Biomass valorization and green chemistry Study of biomass as a renewable source, thermochemical methods of valorization. Epoxidation and carbonation of vegetable oils. Production of green additives for fuels. 
  3. CO2 capture and recovery CO2 capture by reactive absorption, gas-liquid transfer kinetics. Chemical valorisation of CO2: carbonation, hydrogenation of CO2
  4. Microwave processes Design of  reactors for intensified processes, study of the behavior of multiphase media under microwaves, characterization and modeling of wave-matter interactions, applications in green chemistry.

Our scientific equipment

The LSPC is continuously developing new pilot units allowing the study of processes through an experimental approach. Our research also relies on standard measurement equipment including calorimetry, chemical analysis or measurement of physico-chemical properties.
